One day I received a visit from an acquaintance. We were just enjoying some traditional mealwhile watching a movie on TV. Then I perceived that my hote was not at ease. Before we parted, he confessed to me that he was suffering from headaches, and asking for help. I promised to pray for him. Later he told me that he was free of this discomfort. I suffered from this belief for a long time myself.
Does the man of God’s creation really have a head, an organic, physical body that makes him suffer? No. There is only one selfhood of man we seize it from our textbook ; « The likeness of Spirit cannot be so unlike Spirit. Man is spiritual and perfect ; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science » “(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 475).
If God, Mind, that stretcheth forth the universe, is All-in-all, is the brain, the heart, or the eye really organic? Does It spreadeth a heart problem, a headache? No. Science teaches that creation is understood only when interpreted spiritually.
“Call upon me [Spirit] in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me. Call upon me [Spirit] and I will answer. I will tell you great things, hidden things that you do not know” declares the Bible (Jeremiah 33:2,3). The eternal light illuminates the perfect ideas. From the Real can only emanate the reality. Go dis not the author of the shadow. The shadow is unreal, without substance. Light is real and mainained by Spirit, “the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). .
Spirit created all things spiritually. Spirit is harmony, immortality, perfection of all things: “God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female he created them.”(Genesis 1:27).
Science explains that illness is a belief, a mental projection on the body and the environment. It is without principle. Sickness, sin, death are not part of our true self. Therefore, it is in our own mentality that they draw their existence. Christ washes our mentality with light, the Savior that removes all beliefs, all shadows.
Man — the highest idea of the infinitely intelligent Mind — is ‘without structure’. Being is God, the Real, causing neither death, nor sin, nor disease. Under the eternal law of life, perfection, harmony, heath–Christ, man is safe from destruction. Christ is his true spiritual identity. sin, sickness or death, sickness is Godless. Sin, sickness, and death are unnatural.
Truth is substance. Jesus the Christ knew only what is true – the perfection of divine creation. “Jesus saw in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinful mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Savior saw the very likeness of God, and this correct view of man healed the sick,” writes Mary Baker Eddy (Science and Health, p. 476-477).
