‘Disbelief in error destroys error, and leads to the discernment of Truth,’ we read in « Science and Health, » by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 346.
For days, she was suffering, from an injury that was prononced fatal by the physicians. However, as soon as the light of Truth overwhelmed her consciousness, she rose outof the valley of death, healed. Later, the Christian Science Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, mentionned her healing and stressed the fact as follow ; « I called for my Bible, and opened it at Matthew ix. 2. As I read, the healing Truth dawned upon my sense ; and the result was that I rose, dressed myself, and ever after was in better health than I had before enjoyed That short experience included a glimpse of the great fact that I have since tried to make plain to others, namely, Life in and if Spirit ; this Life being the sole reality of existence» («Miscellaneous Writings ,» p. 24).
Christian Science reveals the fact that existence is absolutely mental, not dependent to apparent circumstances.
Sickness is of mental origin. Evil is the absence of the Truth. “Truth is the intelligence of immortal Mind” (Science and Health, p 282). Destroy the belief and the evil evanishes. To the extent that consciousness is healed truth, disease and sickness cease to be.
The Bible enounces that the following fact should be the prime duty of humanity : The knowing of the infinite, omnipresent Consciousness, God, and Christ – « This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent ” (John 17 :3). The kingdom of God as a spiritual state of consciousness, and Christian Science explains that Christ the presentation of the Divine Truth, emanating from God to destroy from human consciousness, lies, sin, fear of every sickness as well as all their physical effects. God is unbounded consciousness, always very close. Indeed, there is but one universal Mentality, that is the infinite individuality, All-presence, All-intelligence, supreme; Immortal Mind transcends matter. This Mind holds the control over all the body.

Health, happiness, peace, joy, love, etc. are states and phases of consciousness, and not phenomena of matter.
